Fighting Hunger, One Bag at a Time: Supporting Food Bank of the Rockies Through Roots for Change

May 28, 2025

Understanding that every community has food-insecure families and people, we strive to support Colorado hunger needs through our ongoing support of Food Bank of the Rockies. We scheduled a team volunteer day and had 12 people in the nonprofit’s headquarters measuring, cutting and tying mesh bags to hold all the fresh produce Food Bank of the Rockies distributes to community food banks in the region.

Food Bank of the Rockies ignites the power of community to nourish people facing hunger. They provide food and necessities to people in need through signature programs and by teaming up with hundreds of Hunger Relief Partners to serve communities across Colorado and Wyoming, the largest food bank coverage area in the contiguous United States.

We cut and tied enough produce bags to hold 30,400 pounds of fresh produce, which will provide the equivalent of 25,333 meals.

Under our Roots for Change program, we identify partners that align with our core values of serving Veterans, reducing Hunger, and promoting Health & Wellness. For each partner, we deploy regular days of service where our teams volunteer, host donation drives in stores for critically needed items, and donate money to fuel each organization’s mission.

And we have a hell of a lot of fun doing it! Our team has such diverse backgrounds, getting them into a room together to cut and tie bags is a recipe for hilarity, ingenuity, and connection. One of our employees even innovated a new way to feed the spool of mesh bags through a slot on a table, something Food Bank of the Rockies will be instructing others to do in the future.

Cannabis truly can inspire innovation and the desire to do good, and we want to share that with our community!
